If you are reading this, you might imagine that the journey to creating a television series is made up of one meeting leading neatly to the next. But the truth is that most of the time it feels like dropping a stone down a well and never hearing it land.

There are pitch decks sent off into silence. Emails written with care, sent to people whose names I have been told to reach, and then nothing comes back. You tell yourself that maybe the message was lost, or maybe it was read but not important enough to answer. Either way, there is no reply.

This part of the journey is hard to talk about because it does not carry the drama of a success story or the neat arc of a failure. It is simply the long waiting, the feeling of being invisible, the persistence required to keep trying even when it seems no one notices.

It is not so different from the clients who used to walk through the doors of my studio after years of being dismissed. I remember the woman who told me that doctors had laughed when she said she wanted to lift weights. Or the man who had been told that after his heart attack, he would never be strong again. They arrived in my space carrying silence and shame, unsure if anyone would really take them seriously.

What I learned then is what I hold on to now: sometimes the work is not about the instant win, but about standing in the quiet until someone finally sees you. Those early clients taught me that strength is not just physical. It is the courage to keep showing up, even when nobody answers back.

And so, I keep sending the emails. I keep revising the words. I keep finding new people to reach out to. Because one day, as it happened before, the silence will break, and the voice on the other end will say, “Yes, I see you. Let’s talk.”
