WHO WORKS OUT AT ONE ON ONE?...
YOU DO!

“We all think we are doing the right thing when working out alone at a gym, but most of the time we are not, thus just wasting time and effort and potentially doing more harm than good.  Danny is very specific and watches me like a hawk, I appreciate this a lot.

How old are you?  I felt like I was 50! I am 33 years old.

Why did you come to One On One?

I was unmotivated to change my habits.  I wanted to be accountable and put my money where my mouth was.  I didn’t want that big gym feel where you are just another number. I wanted a dedicated trainer who listens, understands the problems I was having physically and then develops a specialized plan just for me. I wanted them to be held accountable for the results as well as myself.

Why do you make time for fitness?

I was in a bad car accident in 2009. Since then I had nothing but pain in my neck and back.  I tried physio for 2 years, chiro for 2 years, facet injections, and massage.  I wish I would have found Danny sooner!  Since working out with Danny the pain in my back has significantly reduced and I feed on that success.  It is awesome!  I make time for fitness because he is doing what he said he would to help me and now I am held accountable as well.

What does your exercise regimen consist of? How often do you exercise?

I used to go to the gym twice a week. It was all cardio.  Now, I go twice a week with Danny my trainer and once on my own to do cardio. Danny shows me good technique which truly matters.  An inch of different positioning when doing an exercise makes the biggest difference for someone like me who has bad workout habits from past experience, or lack of experience.

Have your views on fitness changed?

Absolutely.  The more I train with Danny, the more I want to eat healthy as well, and the more I want to concentrate on technique and focus on being more positive in my life generally. It is now becoming a part of my life routine, which we all want!

What has been the most rewarding aspect of fitness for you?

I am seeing results.  I have more energy throughout the week, and I am more conscious of my food intake now.  I love junk food! Doughnuts, chips, sour candies and ice cream, but now I am more results oriented and it’s not a matter of writing everything down (you can go to that extent if you want) but more a matter of saying to myself, “this bag of chips means 1 hour of working out to burn the calories, do I really want to eat this?” And now I say no!

What has been your biggest challenge?

Accountability.  I know this is what everyone says, but paying someone to help you train really holds you accountable because you don’t want to waste your hard earned money.  Having experts on your side like Danny and Sandra (initially) help you soak up  as much as you can in the time that you have, making every minute count.
My other challenge is proper technique.  We all think we are doing the right thing when working out alone at a gym, but most of the time we are not, thus just wasting time and effort and potentially doing more harm than good.  Danny is very specific and watches me like a hawk, I appreciate this a lot.

When you fall off track with healthy eating/exercise, how do you get back on?

I look at myself in the mirror grab my flab and count how many hours it will take to go away. Then I realize that’s a lot of hours.  It would just be easier to eat healthy and not go off track.  And get my butt to the gym regularly instead of being lazy.  I also share and describe my training sessions with my wife.   I find that when I share my interests, she takes an interest and my energy level goes up.  I feel like I am creating a healthier home for my family.

What are your goals now?

I want to work on my back and make sure I never feel that back pain again! Then I want to lose 10-15 pounds along the way.  Then I want to get that six pack (I think I am a long way from that!)

If you could give advice to another person who was struggling with their fitness what would that be?

Call Danny and Sandra.  It will be worth it.  Just have a conversation with them. You have nothing to lose except pounds! The weight not the currency! It will make you more accountable than buying a membership to a big gym and going a few times and then never going again. They will build a plan just for you that you can eventually do for yourself.

Any other comments that you would like to add?

As an investment adviser I am conservative with how I spend my money. I want to see value and I am skeptical of almost everything. It took me 4 years before I saw a chiropractor, and I wish I would have called Danny 4 years ago as well. Get a customized plan, get trained and change your life now.  Totally worth it!  I completely see the value. I just wish I would have done it earlier.  Thank you Danny!  Thank you Sandra!
